Will the ASUS EEE Pad Transformer replace your PC?

Because of its innovative ability to transform as an Android Honeycomb netbook, the ASUS EEE Pad Transformer is one popular Android tablet device. And with the tablet receiving general acclaim and impressive reception upon its release (sources reported that the Transformer has been sold out within minutes), it is truly a remarkable feat for the Taiwanese manufacturer to accomplish another feat in the world of technology.

However, since the ASUS Android device can double as a capable laptop substitute, one important question rises: can the ASUS EEE Pad Transformer run PC games and programs?

Being a new question to be answered, it is expected that people will think very deeply about this issue. But going back to the topic – is the Transformer capable of playing the substitute role as a PC? In one way, it may be an achievable thing to do. The ASUS Transformer possesses a keyboard with mouse buttons and a track pad. These things are also featured on any normal PC, laptop, or netbook; if the PC is capable of running programs using the components, then surely the Transformer can also do the same job, right?

Well, that answer is partially true; some programs requiring key entries may appear useless without the said components such as the keyboard. Unfortunately, the mentioning of the items is only a mere factor to determine the ASUS EEE Pad Transformer’s functions as a PC alternative. For instance, CPU processing units are also a possible factor; running an intensive PC game such as Medal of Honor may prove too much for the Transformer. The amount of read-only memory (RAM) is also a factor, not to mention the required graphics processing unit and the scrolling issues of the Transformer.

So for now, the ASUS Transformer may not be the ultimate alternative to anyone’s PC or laptop; still, it is a possibility that PC programs may eventually be ported over to tablet-laptop hybrids such as the mentioned ASUS tablet device.
