Tennis Skirts: Versatile, Functional and Fashionable

Tennis skirts are very popular today, but if you aren’t that keen on wearing that popular short and skimpy mini, then there are other ways to flaunt your inner tennis-goddess without going over the top.

There are different types of tennis skirts out in the market. The most common, of course, is the white pleated tennis skirt that has been used for a long, long time now. Strict tennis circles usually still require this as a uniform, but that doesn’t mean that you should only wear such.

Aside from the common white tennis skirts, there are now a number of cuts, styles, designs and colors that will add some punch to your otherwise drab design. A basic women’s tennis skirt can be taken up a notch with some patterns or some colors. There’s no more need to stick with just white or black, as they can be purchased in a wide array of vibrant colors such as aqua, fuchsia, olive green, ruby red and bright yellow.

Of course, since these skirts evoke a quite informal sporty design, then you should remember to pair it with something less formal as well. Wear it with a tank top, a tennis tee or a classic polo shirt. If you plan to wear the skirt off the court, then be sure not to make a fashion mistake of pairing it with tennis shoes. Off court, these skirts can be paired with sandals, flats, round toe pumps or strappy wedges – nothing too formal as, again, the style should be preppy.

Tennis clothing has been evolving along with time, and today, they are available not just in cotton, but a wide array of modern fabrics that make playing easier to do. Clothing for tennis can be made from nylon, polyester, spandex and the like, making tennis skirts of today functional, durable and long lasting.
