Mineral Foundation Makeup and Eye Makeup Tips for Older Women

Old habits die hard when it comes to makeup and as we age we often become stuck in our ways, choosing to stay with a particular look for years, sticking to the same routine which can look dated and out of place.  With so many new and advanced ingredients in makeup there are plenty of options out there to choose from and becoming creative and  experimenting with new ideas and techniques is most certainly the way forward:

The following tips for older women are about moving with the times and recognizing that makeup needs change as your skin starts to age. Introducing clever techniques and keeping your makeup as fresh and natural as possible is the best way to retain your  youthful bloom.

  • Remember foundation isn’t plaster, by caking on foundation and overdoing your base this will only accentuate the lines more.  Mineral foundation makeup is generally more of a thick matte consistency so instead apply only a thin layer of foundation and use your concealer to help cover fine lines and blemishes
  • Areas such as the inner most corner of the eye, the nose bone, the inner half circle under the eye, broken veins around the nose and just under the corners of the mouth are key places that make the face look younger.  The rule is make dark areas lighter by using a concealer that is one shade lighter and blending this in well with your foundation
  • Excess face powder tends to settle in lines and is extremely aging, so if there is to much powder on the skin use a fluffy brush to get rid of any excess
  • When considering eye makeup tips apply a fine layer of foundation on veins and blueness that is often apparent around the eye area, then set the foundation with a minimal amount of shadow and then apply the eye makeup
  • For fool proof anti aging eyes, stick to a palette of neutral natural tones and unless you are really creative avoid very bright colors as this can leave you looking washed out

As this article discusses less is definitely the safest bet especially as we start to age. Keep your makeup application minimalistic and stick to the more of the base warm undertones instead of using bright colors, you don’t want your makeup to be the first thing that people notice about you, it needs to be as natural as possible whilst helping to impart a youthful glow.
