Functions of Custom Labels – Product Branding and Safety Labeling

Whichever industry the company you work for belongs, labels are abundant. They are used primarily to send information for a variety of purposes. Most of us may associate labels on products sold in the stores we go to, but labels are more than just product labels. We will review two of the most common roles of labels for which the businesses of custom label printing companies depend on.

1.    Product Branding. There is no venue for custom labels more popular than product labels. Before any entrepreneur can proceed with selling their products to their respective niches, they need to make sure that the packaging or presentation of their products comes out with good quality product labels. Aside from highlighting the product logo, they want to put brief but vital information on the labels. In the case of food products, we usually see the ingredients, manufacturing and expiry dates, nutrition facts, and instructions for use on the product labels. To illustrate another example, the labels attached on plastic or amber medicine bottles not just show the generic name and brand name of a particular medicine. It also shows instructions for the right dosage to take for various age groups, contraindications, and potential side effects when the drug is taken; this is also aside from the package insert.

2.    Safety Labeling Mandated by Federal Government. Several industries, especially those involved with manufacturing or construction, are normally required to practice safety measures and precautions through industrial labels to ensure the safety of their employees while producing objects; and also to ensure that the resulting products are safe to use once they reach the consumers. For example, manufacturing plants cannot go about with their daily operations with all harmony when there are no warning, hazard, danger, or caution signs posted on walls or equipment. Warning labels are present in hazardous machineries and equipment, in consumer goods with high contents of chemicals, as well as in electronic objects.
